The deoxygenation column is a vacuum deaeration unit specifically designed for oxygen removal from cyanide-leached pregnant solution prior to the precipitation process. Equipped with a solution distributor and liquid level control system, it features a wooden grid packing layer with superior adhesion properties, delivering higher deoxygenation efficiency compared to plastic packings.
Working Principle
The deoxygenation column consists of a cylindrical vessel with a conical bottom and a bolted top cover. The upper section houses a solution distributor, while the middle section contains polypropylene mesh packing secured by welded steel supports and resting on a sieve plate at the lower section. This configuration forms a complete packing layer that maximizes deoxygenation opportunities for the pregnant solution.
The lower portion serves as a storage chamber for deoxygenated solution, integrated with a liquid level control device that automatically regulates the inlet valve opening to maintain stable level.
During operation, solution is drawn by vacuum into the top of the column and evenly distributed over the packing surface through the spray header. As the liquid flows downward under vacuum, dissolved gases are disengaged from the liquid, achieving efficient deoxygenation. The deoxygenated solution is then pumped from the conical bottom discharge to the precipitation circuit.
Under operating gauge pressure of 0.005–0.011 MPa, the column achieves over 95% deoxygenation efficiency, with residual oxygen content in the deoxygenated solution below 0.5 g/m³.
